I have been an entrepreneur since I was 7. My first company was being a door to door salesman in my neighborhood selling crafts I had made all lined up neatly in a box.
In 1999 I founded the company timi & leslie designing and selling stylish diaper bags internationally and nationwide.
In 2014 I founded my current company Newlie (it hasn't "officially launched" yet) selling stylish diaper bags and eventually other cool products for parents.
Besides my entrepreneurial career, I studied and performed with the Groundling's Theater in Los Angeles doing improv and writing/performing sketch comedy. I co-wrote the sketch "Delicious Dish - The NPR Ladies" on Saturday Night Live starring Ana Gastyer and Molly Shannon (I originally played Molly's part at the Groundling's.) Yes, I even coined the phrase "Good Times."
I have no formal training in business other then diving in and learning on the fly. My background in improv has actually been a huge asset helping me to think quickly and creatively on my feet.
The advice I share on this blog is not fancy - I don't speak in lots of "business jargon." It's just based on what has worked for me.
"Lily" of Lily and the Birds is my daughter. She's fierce. She's a red head. And she means business.
